## Managing PDF Documents

**Need some help with the Content Item Manager? Learn more:** [**Content Item Manager Tour**](/v1/docs/content-item-manager-tour).

1. From the **Content** menu, select the PDF document you want to manage. The **PDF** content manager window opens

2. Beam automatically adds the title of your uploaded PDF document in the **Name** field. If you'd like to change it, enter a new title in the field.

3. Use the PDF page preview or the navigation arrows to select the page you want to manage.

4. Select the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the window to open the page's **Settings** drawer.

5. In the **Duration** field of the **Settings** drawer, enter how long you want the PDF page to be displayed. The field defaults to 10 seconds.
6. Next, from the **Transition** drop-down list, select how you would like the PDF page to transition to the next slide. When you select a transition, you'll see a preview of the effect in the **PDF** window.
7. Select the ←**Back** button to save your changes and close the **Settings** drawer.
8. To edit the settings for the remaining PDF pages, repeat steps 3 through 7.
9. Select **Publish** to make your PDF document available to publish directly to your displays or to insert into a playlist or program.

## **Re-Uploading PDF Documents**

If you need to edit a PDF file but want to retain the settings you've already configured for it in Beam, you can re-upload the edited file from within the **PDF** content manager window.

1. Update your PDF document and save it to your local folder or shared drive.
2. In the **PDF** content manager window, select the appropriate upload button: **Re-upload from Local Storage**, **Re-upload from OneDrive**, or **Re-upload from Google Drive**.

If you re-upload from a shared drive, the document will simply upload into Beam after you select it. If you select **Re-upload from Local Storage**, a window opens with options to drag and drop your file into the window or browse to select it. After you choose the file, it appears in the **File Re-upload** window; you just need to select **Upload** to upload the file into Beam.

If the document is currently playing on any displays, the changes will appear automatically.

## Next Steps

Now that you've successfully uploaded and managed your PDF document, it's time to publish your content directly to your displays or insert them into a playlist or program.

**Insert into a playlist:** [Playlists Overview](/v1/docs/what-is-a-playlist)
