# What is a Playlist?

| This feature is available in the following plans: |

## **Playlists in Skykit Beam**

A playlist is a group of content items and programs that play in rotation. Individual content items and programs that are added to playlists are called playlist entries. Each playlist entry has its own [**Play Rules**](/v1/docs/managing-playlists-in-skykit-beam) drawer, where you can set the date, time, and recurrence rules for individual entries.

Playlists give you full control over when and where your content plays on your displays. You can set up playlist entries to play only within a specific time frame, only on specific days of the week, or only during certain months in the year. Playlists also offer greater flexibility by allowing you to mix individual content items and programs.

If you're a Beam Pro or Enterprise customer, you can also [assign labels](/v1/docs/assigning-labels-to-playlist-entries) to playlist entries. Labels give you the ability to target your content to play on specific displays.

You can publish a playlist directly to your displays or add it as an entry in a [Collection](/v1/docs/creating-a-collection-in-skykit-beam).
