# Why is my Playlist or Collection Entry playing after its end time?

The time ranges in the playlist entry **Play Rules** drawer do not necessarily tell Skykit when to stop playing certain content, but rather allow content to play during those times. Rather than thinking about the Play Rules as a schedule, view it as a checklist instead.

For example, let's say you inserted a content item with a slide duration of 30 minutes into a playlist and set the Play Rules so that it is allowed to play between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This means that if it's 4:45 p.m. and this playlist entry is next in line to play, Skykit will allow it to be displayed because it's within the established time frame of 9:00 to 5:00. Therefore, it will start playing at 4:45 p.m., but it will not stop playing at 5:00. Because the item's duration is 30 minutes, Skykit will allow it to display for the full 30 minutes before turning off, meaning it will actually end at 5:15 p.m.
