[YouTube content](/v1/docs/managing-youtube-video-apps) in Skykit is a [Web View](/v1/docs/managing-web-views-in-skykit-beam) playing in Android’s native browser, [Android System WebView](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebView). Because of **Android's built-in browser security rules**, YouTube videos can autoplay on Skykit displays, but they cannot do so with audio. Android WebView automatically blocks unmuted media from playing automatically to prevent unexpected background noise and conserve data. Because these security rules operate at the operating system level, standard YouTube URL parameters like `autoplay=1` cannot override them. ### Can I change player settings to enable YouTube audio? **Not at this time.** Skykit player configuration currently does not support overriding Android's native WebView autoplay restrictions for streaming YouTube content. Because YouTube links cannot bypass this operating system limitation on their own, embedded streaming YouTube videos will remain muted during automated playback. ### How to Play Videos with Audio on Skykit #### Recommended Solution: Upload Videos Directly to Skykit Beam If your digital signage content requires active sound, you can easily bypass browser streaming restrictions by [uploading your video to Beam](/v1/docs/uploading-videos-into-skykit-beam). When video files are stored and played locally from the device's media library, they bypass web browser security policies entirely and will play with full audio. #### Additional Benefits of Direct Upload: - **Offline Playback:** Stored video files play reliably regardless of whether the device is online. - **Higher Playback** Quality: Local media eliminates buffering, resolution drops, and playback stutter caused by weak Internet connections or network congestion.
