🔍 What Is Skykit Insights?

Skykit Insights gives your organization up-to-date visibility into your Skykit network — every player's online/offline state, every Proof-of-Play event, and key device-health signals — delivered securely into your own Google BigQuery environment. Instead of manually exporting reports from Skykit Control every time someone needs an answer, your team can query current and historical data directly, and connect it to the business intelligence (BI) tools you already use.

⚙️ How Does It Work?

  1. Skykit sets up a dataset inside a Google Cloud project that you own. 🏗️ During setup, Skykit configures a dataset (currently insights_v1beta1) inside a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) project that belongs to your organization. Your team controls access through standard Google Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles.
  2. Two data sources flow into that dataset:
    • 📊 Display data — daily snapshots of device metadata, great for reviewing current fleet status and spotting historical trends.
    • 🎬 Player Proof-of-Play (POP) data — granular playback-event records showing what content played, where, and when, refreshed every [XX] minutes, including plays that happened while a device was offline and synced later.
  3. Your team queries the data directly 🔎, using standard SQL in BigQuery, or by connecting a compatible BI tool like Looker, Power BI, or Tableau. Skykit can even help save a starter set of common queries right in your BigQuery console.
  4. You can join Skykit data with your other business data 🔗 — CRM, revenue, campaign, audience, or operational data — because it all lives in an environment your organization already controls.
  5. Google bills your organization directly 💳 for BigQuery query and storage costs (more on this below). Google includes a monthly free tier, and BigQuery shows a cost estimate before every query runs.

💰 Pricing

Skykit Insights has two separate costs, billed by two separate parties:

  • Skykit Insights subscription — an annual fee, billed by Skykit, that covers initial setup and ongoing maintenance of your data connection.
  • Google Cloud / BigQuery usage — billed directly to your organization by Google, based on the data your queries process (see the Setup Guide for how to estimate and manage these costs).

Your Skykit representative can walk through current pricing as part of scoping your setup.

🎯 Who Is It For?

Skykit Insights is especially valuable for:

  • 🏢 Organizations managing large, distributed, or multi-tenant display networks that need fleet-wide visibility without manual reporting.
  • 📺 Ad networks and monetized DOOH operators who need audit-grade Proof-of-Play data to invoice advertisers or support third-party verification.
  • 📈 Organizations with an internal data or BI team (data engineers, BI architects, analysts) who want a queryable data source rather than periodic CSV exports.
  • 🔧 AV, IT, and operations leads who want up-to-date device and connectivity health without waiting on a customer complaint or a field report.
  • 📣 Brand, communications, and compliance teams who need a reporting trail confirming that important content — a safety message, a company announcement, a sponsored campaign — actually played across every location.

💡 Good to Know

Skykit Insights is built for reporting and analysis, not time-sensitive alerting. It complements — but doesn't replace — Skykit's device-management and alerting workflows, and it shouldn't be treated as a substitute for emergency notification or life-safety systems.

🚀 What to Expect Right Now

Skykit Insights is currently being tested with a group of customers, so onboarding is hands-on: your Skykit representative will walk through setup with you rather than pointing you to a fully self-serve flow. A few details — like exact data refresh timing — are still being finalized as we roll this out more broadly.

✅ Next Steps

  1. Talk to your Skykit representative or Customer Success contact to confirm eligibility and get access to Skykit Insights.
  2. Make sure you have an active Google Cloud account, project, and billing account — this is required before setup can begin. If you're new to Google Cloud, your Skykit contact can point you to Google's sign-up steps.
  3. Follow the Skykit Insights Setup Guide to configure your Google Cloud project and connect it to Skykit.
  4. Check the Skykit Insights FAQ for answers to common questions on security, cost, and reporting.
