How to Enable Auto-Publish for PowerPoint Files from OneDrive

Prev Next

With Skykit Beam, you can import PowerPoint files directly from Microsoft OneDrive. By turning on Auto-Publish, your file will update automatically in Skykit whenever someone makes changes in PowerPoint—no extra uploads required.

This means:

  • Editors can make changes in PowerPoint, and updates appear in Skykit overnight.

  • Team members who only edit PowerPoint files don't need Skykit login credentials

Please Note:

Ability to auto-publish for OneDrive PowerPoint resources in beam can be enabled only on request. Please contact our support team to enable this feature for your beam tenant.

What You’ll Need

Before you start, make sure:

  • You have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Enterprise license.

  • You should have Microsoft tenant admin permissions.

  • The file you’re importing is a PowerPoint file stored in OneDrive.

Key definitions

  • Microsoft Tenant: Your organization’s private Microsoft 365 account, where users, apps, and settings are managed.

  • Admin Consent: A one-time approval from your Microsoft admin that lets Skykit connect securely to your tenant and grants permissions for an application to access protected resources on behalf of users or in this case a Microsoft Tenant, ensuring that sensitive data and operations are only accessible to trusted applications.

Understanding Auto-Publish Permission Requirements

Auto-Publish requires two specific permission levels in your Microsoft environment:

Tenant-Level Admin Consent

Authorizes the Skykit application within your Microsoft tenant, but only affects files that have additional explicit permissions for auto-publish.

File-Level Access

Grants Skykit read/write access to specific files only when the user is present to authorize the connection, enabling the application to sync designated PowerPoint files from OneDrive.

Step 1: Import Your PowerPoint File

Important reminder: Make sure pop-ups are allowed in your browser for Skykit Beam.

  1. In Skykit Beam, go to the Content page.

  2. Click the +Content button (top right).

  3. Choose Import → Microsoft OneDrive.

  4. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 Business admin account when prompted (the account where you have Microsoft tenant admin privileges).

  5. Select the PowerPoint file you want to import in Beam.

Step 2: Turn On Auto-Publish

  1. Open the detail page for the PowerPoint file you just imported.

  2. Click the settings gear icon (top right).

  3. Scroll down to the Auto-Publish section.

  4. Click Request Admin Consent.

    • A pop-up will appear. Click Continue.

    • Sign in again with your Microsoft 365 Business admin account.

  5. Follow the Microsoft prompts and you may see a message that the app is “unverified.” This is expected. Skykit will be listed as a verified app soon in Microsoft’s Enterprise App Store.

  6. Toggle Auto-Publish ON.

  7. Wait until you see the save confirmation before leaving the page.

That’s it! Your PowerPoint file is now set to auto-publish. Any edits made in OneDrive will sync to Skykit automatically every night.
