How to Use Canva with Skykit Beam for Digital Signage

Prev Next

Connecting your Canva designs to Skykit Beam is a simple and powerful way to keep your digital signage fresh. By using a Web View link, you can ensure that any updates you make to a design in Canva will automatically reflect on your screens—without ever needing to download, re-upload, or republish files.

This guide will walk you through generating a public view link in Canva, adding it to Skykit Beam, and configuring the settings for automatic updates.

Step 1: Generate a Public View Link in Canva

To display your design in Skykit Beam, you first need to generate a specific type of link in Canva that allows view-only access without requiring a sign-in.

  1. Open your desired design in Canva.

  2. In the top right corner of the editor, click the Share button.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Public view link.

  4. In the Public view link panel, click the purple Create public view link button.

  5. Once generated, click Copy to save the URL to your clipboard.

Step 2: Add the Canva Link to Skykit Beam

Now that you have your Canva link, you will add it to your Skykit Beam content library as a Web View.

  1. Log in to Skykit Beam and navigate to your Content library.

  2. Click the + CONTENT button in the top right corner.

  3. In the right-hand sidebar menu, select URL, and then click Web View.

  4. A Web View modal will appear. Paste your copied Canva URL into the URL field.

  5. Set your desired Timeout Duration (e.g., 30 seconds). This tells Skykit how long to attempt loading the URL before moving on to the next item in your playlist.

  6. Click Create. The Web View will now appear at the top of your Content library.

Step 3: Configure Reload Settings for Automatic Updates

This is the most important step for ensuring your digital signage stays current. By setting a reload duration, Skykit Beam will periodically check Canva for any changes you have made to the design.

  1. In your Content library, click on the newly created Web View item to open its details page.

  2. Click on the name field at the top left to rename the file to something recognizable (e.g., "Digital Signage Options").

  3. In the right-hand panel, locate the Settings section.

  4. Under Reload Duration, set how often you want the screen to check for updates.

    • Best Practice: If you only edit files every few hours or once a day, setting the reload duration to 4 Hours is recommended. Extremely frequent reloads may cause performance issues on slower devices.

  5. Your changes are saved automatically.

How It Works in Practice

Once you have added the URL and configured the Web View settings, your workflow becomes incredibly seamless:

Whenever you make a change to the design in Canva, simply ensure the changes are saved in Canva. You do not need to log back into Skykit Beam. The next time the Web View reaches its designated Reload Duration, your digital signage display will automatically refresh and reflect the updated content.

No re-uploading, no republishing—just edit in Canva, and your screen stays current.
