When you set a time range in a Play Rule for a Playlist or Collection, you are setting a time filter, not a strict schedule.
Because Skykit Beam plays your content in a continuous loop, a Play Rule will not interrupt currently playing content. Instead, it acts as a gatekeeper that checks the clock only when it is that specific item's turn to play.
How the Loop Works:
Your Skykit media player plays an item in your Playlist for its full duration.
When that item finishes, the player looks at the very next item in the list.
If that next item has a Play Rule, the player checks: "Is it currently within the allowed time frame?"
If Yes: The item plays.
If No: The player skips it and moves to the next item in the list.
Example Scenario: Let’s say you have a Playlist with two items:
Item A: A 1-hour video.
Item B: An image with a Play Rule set to show only between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM.
If Item A (the 1-hour video) begins playing at 8:55 AM, it will not finish until 9:55 AM. Because your player will not interrupt the video, Item B will miss its 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM window entirely. When the player finally checks Item B at 9:55 AM, the Play Rule window will have passed, and the image will be skipped.
💡 Beam Pro-Tip: If you need a piece of content to play during a very specific time window, make sure the durations of the other items in your loop are short enough that the player cycles through the entire Playlist or Collection frequently!
