Show content from your own system (Enterprise Content Integration)

Prev Next

Enterprise Content Integration (ECI) lets your Skykit screens show information straight from a system you already use. You change it once at the source, and every screen updates.

When to use it

  • Prices, menus or product details live in your POS, menu tool or product system
  • Schedules, alerts or KPIs live in your own software or portal
  • Your team re-types that information into Skykit today, and screens fall out of date
  • You want screens to change when something happens, such as a transaction or a barcode scan
  • Your team would rather keep working in its own system than learn another tool

Using a BI dashboard?

If your data lives in a BI dashboard such as Power BI or Tableau, start with Dashboard Connections instead. ECI is for systems beyond a dashboard.

How it works

  1. Your system is the source. It holds the content and any events that should change what's on screen, such as a price change.
  2. Skykit connects to it. We connect your system to Skykit using our standard integration approach, usually through a connection point (an endpoint) in your system. The exact setup depends on your system.
  3. Skykit plays it. Skykit delivers and plays the content, caches media on the player to keep playback going through network interruptions, and manages your devices.
  4. You see what played. Device health and proof of play show what played, where and when.

Do we need to log into Skykit?

Not necessarily. Depending on your setup, your team can keep working entirely in your own system while Skykit runs behind the scenes. Device health and screen status stay available in Skykit Control.

Getting started

ECI is set up with you, not switched on from a menu:

  1. Discovery session. We learn which system holds your content and what should appear on screen.
  2. Build the connection. Your team, or your software provider, builds the connection using Skykit's integration specification, which we share once the project starts.
  3. Test and go live. We test on a few screens first, then roll out.

Timing and pricing

Every system is different, so timing and pricing depend on the scope we agree in discovery. To get started, contact your account manager or Skykit Support. You can also read the FAQ.
