Adjusting Display Height and Width

Prev Next

In most cases, you do not need to adjust the default height and width settings found in the Control Status Tab. Your device should automatically detect the best resolution. However, overriding these values can help force your uploaded content to scale properly if it isn’t rendering as expected.

About Display Height and Width

The screen size set in Control defines the visible space for the Player app can use. The screen size, as it’s recognized by the app, isn’t the actual size of the screen. Apps must take into account screen orientation, system decorations like a navigation bar, and window configuration changes.

By manually overriding the Width and Height values, you can force the Display to output your content at a specific size.

Troubleshooting: Using Live View

If your Display output still isn’t rendering the way you expect, compare your physical screen to Live View. Live View shows exactly what the Player thinks it is rendering.

  • If Live View matches the physical screen (but both look wrong): The issue is likely with your uploaded content’s original size or your Height/Width override settings.

  • If Live View looks perfect, but your physical screen looks wrong: The issue is likely with the physical TV or monitor. Try adjusting the TV’s hardware settings (orientation, aspect ratio, zoom, etc.)

Tip: Connecting your Skykit device to a completely different screen is a great way to isolate whether the TV’s settings may be the issue.

Need to reset Height and Width to device defaults?

Simply delete the values in the height and width field, then click Save Configuration.
