Skykit Apps are ready-made connections that turn content from other tools, like a Power BI Dashboard, a YouTube video, or a live stream, into content you can play on your screens in Skykit Beam.
You don't have to build embed codes, format URLs, or work out login automation. You pick an App, fill in a few fields, and Beam creates the content for you. After that, you can add it to Playlists, Collections, and Displays like any other content.
Why Use Skykit Apps?
Everything is in one place. All your third-party content sources are listed together in Beam under + Content > Apps.
Setup is guided. Each App asks only for what it needs. For example, you paste a normal YouTube link and turn captions or looping on or off, and Beam formats the embed for you.
Admins control access. Administrators decide which Apps your Tenant uses and manage the login credentials those Apps need. Other users can build content without seeing any passwords.
Settings are consistent. Apps that stream or load live content let you set a content duration and a fallback timeout, so your screens don't go blank if a source is slow to respond.
Types of Skykit Apps
Apps are grouped into four categories. You can filter by category on the App Management page and in the content creation flow.

How Skykit Apps Work
An Administrator adds the App. They find it in App Management and click Add. Some Apps, including YouTube, Stream, and Screenfeed Direct, may already be enabled for your Tenant. Alerts Apps (Alertus and InformaCast) can't be added from App Management. Skykit Support sets these up for you.
An Administrator saves credentials (Dashboard Apps only). On the App's detail page, they add a login and give it a clear nickname, such as "Finance – Power BI."
Users create content from the App. Go to + Content > Apps, choose the App, and complete the required fields. Dashboard users pick a saved credential nickname but can't see the username or password behind it.
Schedule and publish the content. App content works like any other content. You can add it to Playlists or Collections, apply Play Rules, and assign it to Displays.
Who Can Do What
What you can do with Apps depends on two things:

If an App shows a lock icon, it may not be connected to your Tenant yet, or your plan may not include it. Contact your Skykit Administrator or your Skykit account team.
What Changed From Earlier Versions of Beam
If you've used Beam before, you'll notice a few changes:
Dashboards now live under Apps. To create a Dashboard, go to + Content > Apps and choose your Dashboard provider. There's no longer a separate Dashboard button.
Only Administrators manage credentials. Other roles can't create or edit Dashboard credentials. If you need access, ask an Administrator to create the credential, or ask an Account Owner or Tenant Admin to change your role to Administrator.
Your existing content still works. Dashboards and content you created before Apps keep playing on your screens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Skykit Apps cost extra? Video Apps are included with Beam. Screenfeed requires the Social Media Feeds add-on. Dashboard Apps depend on your edition or the Dashboards add-on. Alerts Apps are set up by Skykit Support. Your Skykit account team can confirm what your plan includes.
I don't see the App I need. What should I do? Check with your Skykit Administrator. The App might not be added to your Tenant yet, or it might not be part of your edition. If it isn't listed at all, contact Skykit Support to talk through your options.
I can't find the right credentials when I create a Dashboard. Only Administrators can add credentials. Ask your Administrator to create one for that App.
Can I edit App content after I create it? Yes. Open the content's detail page to update its settings. For example, you can turn YouTube captions or looping on or off, or change a Stream's duration.
